THE CITY OF HOUSTON CONSTRUCTION CODE
The Houston Construction Code establishes minimum standards for the construction, alteration, maintenance, repair, and demolition of buildings and other structures to protect the life safety of the public.
The Houston Construction Code is adopted and amended by City Council. The 2012 Construction Code Package became effective on February 1, 2016. The amendments, along with the model codes, constitute the City of Houston Codes and is comprised of the following volumes:
The City of Houston Building Code, including as Chapter 46, the Houston
The City of Houston Residential Code;
The City of Houston Mechanical Code;
The City of Houston Plumbing Code;
The City of Houston Electrical Code;
The City of Houston Commercial Energy Conservation Code; and
The City of Houston Residential Energy Conservation Code.
